Those of you who die and leave wives, their widows shall wait four months and ten days (before they remarry). Once they fulfill their interim, you commit no error by letting them do whatever righteous matters they wish to do. God is aware of all that you do. |

كسانى ازشما كه بميرند وهمسرانى برجاى گذارند ، آنها باید چهار ماه و ده روز صبرکنند . پس از به پايان رسیدن"عده" در آنچه آنان به نحو پسنديده درباره خود انجام دهند گناهى بر شما نيست و خداوند به آنچه انجام مىدهيد آگاه است |

You commit no sin by announcing your engagement to the women, or keeping it secret. God knows that you will think about them. Do not meet them secretly, unless you have something righteous to discuss. Do not consummate the marriage until their interim is fulfilled. You should know that God knows your innermost thoughts, therefore remain conscious of Him; and know, too, that God is much-forgiving, forbearing. |

در باره اینکه شما به طور سربسته از آنان خواستگارى كرده يا در دل پوشيده داريد بر شما گناهى نيست ،خدا مىداند كه به زودى به ياد آنان خواهيد افتاد ، ولى با آنان قول و قرار پنهانى مگذاريد مگر آنكه سخنى پسنديده بگوييد و به عقد زناشويى تصميم مگيريد تا زمان مقرر به سرآيد و بدانيد كه خداوند آنچه را در دل داريد مىداند . پس از او پروا کنید و بدانيد كه خداوند بسیار آمرزنده و بردبار است |

You commit no error by divorcing the women before touching them, or before setting the dowry for them. In this case, you shall compensate them - the rich as he can afford and the poor as he can afford - an equitable compensation. This is a duty upon the righteous. |

اگر زنان را مادامى كه با آنان نزديكى ننموده و یا برايشان مهریه معين نكردهايد طلاق دهيد بر شما گناهى نيست . آنان را به طور پسنديده به نوعى بهرهمند كنيد توانگر به اندازه توان خود و تنگدست به اندازه توان خود .اينوظیفه ایست شايسته برای نيكوكاران |

If you divorce them before touching them, but after you had set the dowry for them, the compensation shall be half the dowry, unless they voluntarily forfeit their rights, or the party responsible for causing the divorce chooses to forfeit the dowry. To forfeit is closer to righteousness. You shall maintain the amicable relations among you. God is Seer of everything you do. |

و اگر پيش از آنكه با آنان نزديكى كنيد طلاقشان دهيد در حالى كه براى آنان مهریه معين كردهايد پس نصف آنچه را تعيين نمودهايد [به آنان بدهيد] مگر اينكه آنان خود ببخشند يا كسى كه پيوند نكاح به دست اوست ببخشد و گذشت كردن به تقوا نزديكتر است و در ميان يكديگر بزرگوارى را فراموش مكنيد زيرا خداوند به آنچه انجام مىدهيد بيناست

| Be ever mindful of prayers, and of praying in the most excellent way; and stand before God in devout obedience. |

بر نمازها و (بویژه)نماز ميانه مواظبت كنيد و خاضعانه براى خدا به پا خيزيد |

If you fear(a danger), you may pray while walking or riding. Once you are safe, you shall commemorate God as He taught you what you never knew. |
239 |
پس اگر بيم داشتيد پياده يا سواره [نماز كنيد] و چون ايمن شديد خدا را ياد كنيد . خداوند است ، که چيزهايى را كه نمىدانستيد، به شما میآموزد |

Those who die and leave wives, a will shall provide their wives with support for a year, provided they stay within the same household. If they leave, you commit no sin by letting them do whatever they wish, so long as righteousness is maintained. God is Almighty, Most Wise. |

و كسانى از شما كه مرگشان فرا مىرسد و همسرانى بر جاى مىگذارند براى همسران خويش وصيت كنند كه آنان را تا يك سال بهرهمند سازند و [از خانه شوهر] بيرون نكنند پس اگر بيرون بروند در آنچه آنان به طور پسنديده در باره خود انجام دهند گناهى بر شما نيست و خداوند توانا و حكيم است |

| The divorcees also shall be provided for, equitably. This is a duty for all who are conscious of God. |
241 |
و براى زنان مطلقه، نفقه مناسبى لازم است اين، وظیفه ای است بر پرهيزكاران |

| God thus explains His revelations for you, that you may understand. |
242 |
بدين گونه خداوند آيات خود را براى شما بيان مىكند باشد كه خردورزی نمایيد |

|
Have you noted those who fled their homes - though they were in the thousands - fearing death? God said to them, 'Die,' then revived them. God is full of bounty to mankind, but most people are unappreciative. |
243 |
آيا نديدى کسانی را كه از ترس مرگ، از خانههاى خود فرار كردند؟ و آنان، هزارها نفر بودند (كه به بهانه بيمارى طاعون، از شركت در ميدان جهاد خوددارى نمودند). خداوند به آنها گفت: بميريد! سپس خدا آنها را زنده كرد . خداوند نسبت به بندگان خود احسان مىكند ولى بيشتر مردم، سپاسگزار نیستند |

You shall fight in the cause of God, and know that God is all-hearing, all-knowing. |
244 |
و در راه خدا كارزار كنيد و بدانيد كه خداوند بسیارشنواى داناست

|
Who would lend God a loan of righteousness, to have it repaid to them multiplied manifold? God is the One who provides and withholds, and to Him you will be returned. |
245 |
كيست كه به خدا وام نيكويى دهد تا آن را چند برابر بازپرداخت نمايد ؟ خداست كه تنگى و گشايش پديد مىآورد و به سوى او بازگردانده مىشويد |

Have you noted those elders of the "children of Israel" after the time of Moses? They said to their prophet, 'If you appoint a king to lead us, we will fight in the cause of God.' He said, 'Is it, perhaps, your intention that, if fighting is decreed for you, not to fight?' They said, 'Why should we not fight in the cause of God, when we and our children have been deprived of our homeland ?' Yet, when fighting was decreed for them, they turned away, except a few. God is aware of the transgressors. |

آيا از سران بنى اسرائيل پس از موسى خبر نيافتى آنگاه كه به پيامبرى از خود گفتند پادشاهى براى ما بگمار تا در راه خدا پيكار كنيم [آن پيامبر] گفت اگر جنگيدن بر شما مقرر گردد شاید پيكار نكنيد . گفتند چرا در راه خدا نجنگيم ؟ با آنكه ما و فرزندانمان از ديارمان بيرون رانده شدهايم . ولی آنگاه كه جنگ بر آنان مقرر شد جز شمارى اندك [همگى] پشت كردند و خداوند به [حال] ستمكاران داناست |

Their prophet said to them, 'GOD has appointed Taloot (Saul) to be your king.' They said, 'How can he have kingship over us when we are more worthy of kingship than he; he is not even rich?' He said, 'God has chosen him over you, and has blessed him with an abundance in knowledge and in body.' God grants His kingship to whomever He wills. God is Bounteous, Omniscient. |

و پيامبرشان به آنان گفت هماناخداوند طالوت را بر شما به پادشاهى گماشته است . گفتند چگونه او را بر ما پادشاهى باشد با آنكه ما به پادشاهى از وى سزاوارتريم و به او از حيث مال گشايشى داده نشده است . پيامبرشان گفت همانا خداوند او را بر گزیده و در دانش و [نيروى] بدنى بر شما برترى بخشيده است . خداوند پادشاهى خود را به هر كس كه بخواهد مىدهد و خدا گشايشگری بس داناست |

Their prophet said to them, 'The sign of his kingship is that the Ark of the Covenant (heart) will be granted to you, bringing inner peace from your Lord, and with all that is enduring in the angel-borne heritage left behind by the House of Moses and the House of Aaron. This should be a convincing sign for you, if you are really believers.' |

پيامبرشان بديشان گفت در حقيقت نشانه پادشاهى او اين است كه پروردگارتان آرامشی در قلب و سینه شما پدید میآورد همراه با بازمانده هایی ازفرشته وش خصوصیات خاندان موسى و خاندان هارون . همانا اگر مؤمن باشيد براى شما در اين نشانهاى است |

When Saul took command of the troops, he said, 'God is putting you to the test by means of a stream. Anyone who drinks from it does not belong with me - only those who do not taste it belong with me - unless it is just a single sip.' However except a few all drank from it. When he crossed it with those who believed, they said, 'Now we lack the strength to face Goliath and his troops.' Yet those who were conscious of meeting God said, 'How often has a small army defeated a large army by God's leave. God is with those who are patient in adversity.' |

و چون طالوت با لشكريان بيرون شد گفتخداوند شما را به وسيله رودخانهاى خواهد آزمود پس هر كس از آن بنوشد از من نيست و هر كس از آن نخورد همانا از من است مگر كسى كه فقط كفى برگيرد پس جز اندكى همه از آن فراوان نوشيدند . هنگامى كه [طالوت ] با همراهان که ايمان داشتند از آن [نهر] گذشتند [دیگران] گفتند امروز ما را ياراى [مقابله با] جالوت و سپاهيانش نيست .اما آنها كه به ديدار خداوند يقين داشتند گفتند بسا گروهى اندك كه به اذن خدا بر گروهى بسيار پيروز شوند و خدا با شكيبايان است |

When they faced Goliath and his troops, they prayed, 'O Our Lord, grant us steadfastness, strengthen our foothold, and support us against the disbelieving people.' |

هنگامى كه با جالوت و سپاهيانش روبرو شدند گفتند پروردگارا بر [دلهاى] ما شكيبايى فرو ريز و گامهاى ما را استوار دار و ما را بر گروه كافران پيروز فرماى |

They defeated them by God's leave, and David killed Goliath. God gave him kingship and wisdom, and taught him as He willed. If it were not for God's repelling some men with others, corruption would surely overwhelm the earth. But God showers His grace upon the people. |

پس آنان را به اذن خدا شكست دادند و داوود جالوت را كشت و خداوند به او پادشاهى و حكمت ارزانى داشت و از آنچه مىخواست به او آموخت . و اگر خداوند برخى از مردم را به وسيله برخى ديگر دفع نمىكرد قطعا زمين تباه مىگرديد ولى خداوند نسبت به جهانيان تفضل دارد |

These are God's revelations. We recite them through you [O Prophet,] setting forth the truth, for you are one of the messengers. |

اينها آيات خداست كه ما آن را بحق بر تو مىخوانيم و به راستى تو از جمله رسولانى |
